The articles of confederation were weak because the Articles lacked the laws and rules to rule a strong society.

It didn’t last a decade, for some obvious reasons. The Articles of Confederation created a weak federal government that had very little power. The Articles of Confederation was a premature U.S Constitution in the making. 1) Under the Articles there was only a unicameral (Having or consisting of a single legislative chamber) legislature so that there was no separation of powers. The Articles of Confederation established the first governmental structure unifying the 13 colonies that had fought in the American Revolution.This document created the structure for the confederation of these newly minted 13 states. the laws were too weak so that no one had any control over anything. The Articles of Confederation were eventually replaced with the United States Constitution. The Articles of Confederation established a particularly weak central government. The Articles of Confederation were ratified on March 1, 1781. It was drafted and signed by all thirteen states in 1781.
