A trip to the zoo is supposed to be about fun, entertainment, as well as a learning experience. Circuses that exploit animals make lofty claims about their educational values and their contributions to conservations. While humans and animals belong to different species, both are capable of feeling pain or pleasure. Many circuses do not have much money and as a result the animals suffer from inadequate care. They are much more successful in teaching us to denigrate them.
Although zoos, circuses, and rodeos involve a more humane treatment of animals than do some ancient practices, they still deny animals basic rights and dignity. Zoos do not protect the dignity of the animals under their care. Furthermore, a decent circus should remain just as entertaining without employing animals. These animals spend most of their time in small cages used for transportation. Numerous studies reveal the failure of zoos and circuses to educate us about animal capabilities, societies or habitat needs. It is not good for humans to use animals in entertainment shows, because such act is equivalent to exploitations.
