This initiative provides a conduit between the university and industry to facilitate cooperative research programs of mutual interest to support industry's green (sustainable) goals and efforts. Today, the manufacturing industry is aiming to improve competitiveness through the convergence with cutting-edge ICT technologies in order to secure a new growth engine. A review of the literature shows that a broad process frame of reference for Green HRM has yet to emerge. The Manufacturing Research Center (MRC) at Western Michigan University recieved nearly $1 million in federal funds (Department of Energy) to establish and develop a Green Manufacturing Initiative. In recent years research in the area of green manufacturing has extended into green supply chain management. Most of this research addresses issues related to evaluating current or potential suppliers’ environmental practices, the environmental/economic benefits and drawbacks of establishing a green supply chain, and reverse logistics.
As a result, this paper can be used by researchers who need to find out the impact of green marketing on customer satisfaction and environmental safety. Essentially, it is the “greening” of manufacturing, in which workers use fewer natural resources, reduce pollution and waste, recycle and reuse materials, and moderate emissions in their processes.
