Forming the basis of the "creative construction process" in L2 learning, these strategies have heretofore remained unspecified. The morpheme studies of Dulay & Burt explored the Brown's (1973) order of morpheme acquisition in an L2 context. Of those that follow the Creative Construction approach, One of the most influential scholars is Stephen Krashen. This laid the groundwork for their formulation of the Creative Construction Hypothesis, a key influence on Krashen's Monitor Theory.
